Most people only know the curved katana. And when it is built right, it is one of the most striking swords you can own. Our Straight Katana Sword is hand-forged in Wazirabad from 1045 carbon steel, heat-treated to HRC 50–52. The blade runs 27.5 inches with zero curvature, completely flat from base to tip, double-edged, and ground to a sharp functional edge on both sides. It weighs 2.3 lbs and sits on a full-tang construction that runs unbroken from tip to handle base. The wide blade profile gives it a commanding visual weight that a curved katana simply does not have.
Available in standard single-edge and double-edge versions. Fitted with a solid brass tsuba, ray skin handle wrap, and a lacquered hardwood saya. Every blade is forged by hand in our Wazirabad workshop, checked against its listing, and shipped free to your door.

A straight katana is traditionally called a tsurugi or chokuto. It is a straight-bladed Japanese sword that predates the curved katana. The tsurugi was the dominant sword style in Japan before the 10th century, when curved blade geometry became standard. Today it is collected for its historical significance and its striking visual difference from a standard katana.
It can be. Traditional tsurugi swords were often double-edged. Our straight katana is available in both single-edge and double-edge versions. The double-edge version is sharpened on both sides of the blade and is a functional cutting blade.
